US Virgin Islands

With the rush to the docks of the BVI, the USVI often gets left in the dust. That’s not really justified, but a boon to those looking to explore some fantastic cruising grounds in relative seclusion. No crowded harbors with charterers competing for the last few mooring balls. This place is for the more refined cruiser, maybe looking for what the BVI used to be.

Sure, St. Thomas and St. Croix can be more hustle and bustle than many cruisers are looking for, but each of those islands has numerous quiet anchorages to offer as well. And you can’t beat a major airport right on the water (St. Thomas), with easy ferry access back and forth from the BVI (schedule).

Then there’s St. John. About two-thirds of the island is a national park, with minimal development and regulations in place to conserve the breathtaking beauty, both above and below water. Yes, there is plenty the USVI has to offer, if you are willing to look. Click the chart to check it out.
