Barra Taxi Aquatico

A great way to get from the lagoon to tacos

Be the first to review

The water taxi in barra is mostly run by a single family of long-time residents. You’ll typically find Maria, her sister Patricia, or brother Fortino at the waterfront palapa headquarters, collecting fees and calling out pickups over VHF. They’re super friendly and fun to talk to, and can help you out with a water delivery, special ride, etc. Note that water taxi boats are yellow, while other utility pangas are often orange, and tour pangas are almost all white. Hail the water Taxi Aquatico on VHF channel 23 (“Necesitamos un taxi en la laguna, por el velero such and such”). The fare from the lagoon anchorage (winter 21-22) is 50 pesos, round trip. You pay at the dock in town and get a little ticket that’s good for your return. Simple.
