Impossible, but true. We’ve been at it for 6 years. Six. Seems like not all that long ago, I quit my job, we gave up our slip at the Bay Club, and sailed south. My brother, Jerry, bet me that we’d be back in San Diego within a year. Wrong, brother. But we are still in Mexico, a place we’ve fallen in love with and don’t have any immediate plans to leave. We’ve sailed many miles, met many new people – said how-do-you-do and see-ya-later in the same season, endured many ups and downs, viewed many amazing sights, and enjoyed more than a gazillion good times. We did fall off the blog wagon after my computer took a dump, and then the interwebs became saturated with young YouTubers and vloggers – which has been fun to watch, but impossible to compete with. So, this is what you get: A 27-minute video of old and new footage and photos of our sailing life in Mexico.
What you don’t get is any footage or photos from our terrestrial adventures over the same 6 years, and there have been many. Some did make it onto our blog before the computer mishap, or you can check out our Instagram feed at https://www.instagram.com/svfreeluff/. Also, lost in the shuffle was some amazing footage of mobula rays swarming our boat in 2018. It was such a magical experience that we are reposting below.
Finally, what you also don’t get, which isn’t unusual for social media, are the stories about life events that have challenged us or brought sadness to ours and the lives of loved ones. We continue to be the lucky ones, whose lives go on – we are healthy, we are happy. But some we love have lost their lives; some much too soon – to cancer or other diseases. Others have just begun or continue their long-fought battles against cancer or other ailments. It’s life. It brings incredible joy and unbearable pain. We are fortunate to have a loving tribe to see us through both the joy and the pain. Tell those in your tribe that you love them. Everyday.
Now for the vids…
