Come March, it was time for Jody to get her fix of family and friends in San Diego and Palm Springs (sorry no pics here) – oh, and to take the cat to the vet. What made it extra special was that Courtney and Spencer made the trek from Seattle so we could enjoy home together. It was, as usual, a fun-filled, go-go-go visit, complete with logistics, such as pulling tax info together for the tax man, getting cars registered and smogged, gathering random boat parts for Free Luff and S/V JollyDogs, and, of course, not getting enough sleep.
The week started with our guide baby, Jack’s, first birthday party. Jes and Jon did it up right – lots of family and friends, noms, and presents, but sadly, Jack wanted nothing to do with his very first birthday cake. Maybe a good sign? Could it be that he won’t be addicted to sugar? Hmmmm…time will tell.
Then there was a family dinner in Temecula at the Karl Strauss Brewery, a stroll around our old stompin’ grounds on Shelter Island, and dinner with Erin and Simon at our favorite place on the island, Supannee House of Thai. Yuuum! Then it was off to Cabrillo National Monument with Sharissa for some fresh breezes, beautiful wildflowers, and great photo opps. OH, and a miracle cure for hiccups, which involved rubbing of the ear lobes while imbibing (vid below). Jody then jetted out to Palm Springs for a quick lunch with her former co-workers and a much too short a stay at The Resort (i.e., Flea’s house) to get caught up on life and The Voice (a guilty pleasure). Then it was back home for some shopping at REI with Lea and Stace and some golf with Melannie and Jefe. What? Golf? Indeed (vid below).
It was a fabulous visit. Can’t wait to go back in June with Rand in tow. Love to all!
Music credit in the Cabrillo vid goes to The Paul Cannon Band, a local San Diego band. We love all of their tunes and his dreamy voice. Check them out in SD if you can!
Family, friends, good beer, and REI. Great visit!!
