In the early morning hours of September 30, in the midst of our best REM sleep, we were suddenly awakened by our neighbor’s (in our old slip at Bay Club) air horn and Nancy calling out our names. As I became conscious and blinked the sleep out of my eyes, I noticed red lights flashing and the sound of sirens — very close. I glanced out the hatch and, holy s%$#!, a boat just four slips down from us at Half Moon was ON FIRE!! Luckily, there was no wind that morning, and the fire crews got it under control relatively quickly, but not before the two neighboring boats sustained some damage. Scary stuff. Fire on boats — no bueno.
